About this section

About the contents

Case summaries are provided in different formats: digests, haystack, or narratives. They are provided in this manner due to requirements of different subjects in law school. Digests were made to provide a brief summary of the cases’ facts, issue and holding of the Supreme Court as it may relate to a particular topic in the course’s outline. Due to the subsequent observation that some cases are cited in various topics in a course outline or cited in the outlines of different subjects, syllabus-type summaries (“haystack“) were made to avoid redundant readings of the same case and were utilized to draft digests of the same cases, when required. Nevertheless, it was also observed that the digests sometimes were not inadequate to satisfy recitations in class as to details inquired by law professors, hence a longer narration (“narratives) of the facts, issues, and holding of the Supreme Court as it may relate to a particular topic in the course’s outline.
